Which LED light color should you choose?

If you have made the choice to have your current lighting replaced by LED lighting, then you have of course already taken a step in the right direction. The next step is to choose the light color of the LED lighting. Conventional lamps give light by the electricity flowing through a wire. The color cannot change here. This is possible with LED. We are happy to explain what light colors are and which light colors are most ideal for each situation.

What are light colors?

Light colors are expressed in Kelvin. In general, the higher the Kelvin number, the colder the color of the light. Candlelight, for example, has 1000K, while really bright sunlight can be as much as 9000K. There are also different terms for it. For example, a color temperature of 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K natural white and 6500K cool white. These are often also terms that you will find when you purchase LED lighting. Below is an overview of the division in Kelvin.

What color lighting is needed in the office?

Do you choose LED lighting in the office? Then it is of course important that you choose the right color temperature. LED lighting in the office is a good choice, in the first instance because there are little vibrations in the light. This is good for concentration and ensures that colleagues are much less likely to suffer from headaches or eye pain. In the office it is nice to have fresh light and a color temperature of 4000K is often recommended. Anything below 3000K is less suitable, because the body automatically goes into a kind of rest position, which makes you tired earlier. Anything above 6500K can actually make the body feel like it's outside and that can result in colleagues being a lot more distracted. That is why neutral white is often chosen for the office. In a warehouse, factory or workshop, the light color may be a bit higher, for example around 5000K. A showroom, on the other hand, may have slightly warmer light, which means that a light temperature of 3000 to 4000K is preferred there. In a sports hall, a light temperature of 4000K is usually also chosen.

LED lighting tips

If you opt for LED lighting, there are many things to keep in mind. Fortunately, we are happy to help you make these choices. We are happy to give you a number of tips in the field of LED lighting and color temperatures.

Pay attention! Unlike other types of lighting, the light color does not change when you dim LED lamps. With LED lighting, the light color remains the same when dimming and only the light intensity changes.

Always opt for one light color per room. In offices, however, it can sometimes happen that a combination has to be made between mood light and work light, but then it is important to properly coordinate the lamps.

In this case, you can also choose to work with different light points that can be switched and dimmed separately from each other.

If you opt for extra warm white light in a place that also receives a lot of natural daylight, this can give a distorted picture of the warm light of the LED lamp.
